NOTD: Pretty Dots + BP Dotting Tools Review

I finally received my nail dotting tools from BornPrettyStore.com to review. It took a while and then I think they got lost or held at customs but I finally got them in my possession now :)

5x 2-way Dotting Pen Marbelizing Tools

5 double ended marbelized dotting tools come in a pack and they retail for $4.74 on BP with free shipping. Each side is different in dot size which is great because it's like getting 10 tools in one package. So far they have been very sturdy and the workmanship of these tools is nice for the price. I chose the set that comes in marbelized purple which is very cute but there is a multi-colored set which is probably better for remembering which dot size you used on your nails. They measure appx. 5-1/4" in length which is nice because they are not too long, making it easier to keep the tool stable if your hands tend to shake your while working on your nails.

I used my dotting tools to create this nail look. I used my e.l.f. polish in Lilac as my base color since I never used it before and have had it for some time. Here I applied 3 coats because it is a bit sheer with just 1 or 2 coats.

Lilac is a pastel lilac creme matte finish polish that can be a bit streaky with just one coat. 3 coats is highly recommended.

I used 2 different sized tools for the dots and 2 different colors: e.l.f. polish in "Black" and Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in "Fuchsia Power."

If you're in the market for nail dotting tools I highly recommend these from BornPrettyStore. It might take a little while to get them since they are located overseas but they are worth the wait. I'm glad I don't have to use a pencil or toothpick anymore :)

New Toy: Nikon D5100 DSLR [[Pic heavy]]

I finally got a chance to sit down and start this blog. I've been hurricane-proofing my house all day. I can't believe this is actually happening, never experienced a hurricane and it hasn't hit yet and I've already had enough! The office in my basement always begins flooding when there is a regular rainstorm and it's been raining pretty heavy so far and has managed to flood pretty bad. 6 full buckets later, hands that feel like they're blistering, knots in my back, and a bad wrist - I finally got it looking like it's just been mopped. I'm scared of what's going to happen when the hurricane really does hit. I hope there is no real damage anywhere. GOD if you're reading this, pleaseeeeee help everyone out and make this all go away.. pretty please?

To take my mind off of this mayhem, I'm going to post about my new toy :) I got a DSLR for my birthday earlier this month and I loveee it! It's the Nikon D5100. I've never owned or used a DSLR camera before and am not a professional photographer who is educated in using these types of cameras but I've been learning little by little.

Nikon D5100 & 18-55mm VR lens (Flash closed)
I'm not going to bore you with all the specs, here's a overview from Nikon:

"The Nikon D5100 and its included AF-S 18-55mm VR lens offer a host of new photographic and video tools including a 16.2 MP DX-format CMOS sensor, 4 fps continuous shooting and breathtaking Full 1080p HD Movies with full time autofocus."

Here are a few pics of the camera itself. (Pardon the not so crisp pics - I took them with my Canon point & shoot digital camera)

Pink Wednesday: Pinks & Tips

Base Color: Rimmel Lasting Finish Pro - Pink Bliss
Plate: BM-214
Stamp Color: NYC Long Wearing - pink Promenade Creme
Tips: e.l.f. - Black
Top Coat: Sally Hansen Diamond Strength - Flawless
I know I've been absent in posting my Pink Wednesday manicures but today I'm making it up to you guys. For this mani I used a light fair pink as my base and topped it off with a bright pink stamping design and added black tips by using scotch tape for a little more POW factor. Hope you like it and please excuse the messed up tip line on my pointer finger.. oops!

Pink Bliss is a sheer fair pink. It is a buildable polish, here I applied 3 coats to achieve the opacity.
Pink Promenade Creme is a bright hot pink creme polish. It looks a bit red on my nails because of the light pink under it.

The Geek In Me: New Eyeglasses O-O

I finally got my new glasses about a month ago and I absolutely love them. I had to get a new pair because my Dolce & Gabbana rimless ones broke on me and I needed a new prescription.. I have horrible eyesight!
Calvin Klein 7763

This time around I decided to go with plastic geek chic Calvin Klein frames. I tried them on at a optical store and really liked them but was not so in love with the price haha. Especially not after spending $800 on my D&G's just to have them keep breaking on me. Luckily, my sweety knew someone who could hook me up with these frames for the price the optician gets it for. Thank God!

These are the CK7763 prescription frames. My prescription is strong and I like that these frames don't make my lenses look as thick as my previous frames. Although the lenses were thinned out but so were my previous ones and they still were a bit thick.

These babies come in a variety of different colors but I went with the Havana color because it has both light and dark brown throughout the frame. There's an added sophistication to them on half of the temples where the Calvin Klein logo is engraved into shiny silver metal.

I love that they are geek but not to the extreme. They are also very lightweight and the brown compliments my hair color very well, compared to black frames.
