Summer Curls :)

Hello lovely readers! I hope you all enjoyed your weekend! I spent my weekend in NJ (one of my sister's lives there) with my sisters and cousin. We had a nice little sleepover!! :) Yes, you may be saying who still has sleepovers at our age but we are very close and in my house I was never allowed to attend any sleepovers, so I've been deprived! HaHa

We did a little shopping, had dinner and did the basic girly fun stuff that you do at a sleepover.. which means I was the designated manicurist this weekend ;)

Today, I'll just be writing about summer curls, an essential hairdo for this horrid summer heat we've been experiencing lately. And let's not forget the occasional days of thick humid air and rain.  "/

I wear my hair straight most of the time but on days like these I either throw it up in a ponytail or do it curly. I must admit I have not done my hair curly in sooo long and because I straight iron my hair so much, I've lost the curl bounce I once was able to accomplish.

My hair is not naturally this curly, I would say it's wavy/semi curly. To get this look keep reading..

Things you'll need are
  • mousse
  • hairspray
  • 2 hair clips
  • hair dryer
  • hair dryer diffuser
My favorite mousse and hairspray is Herbal Essences Body Envy Collection in Max Hold. I start off by combing out my hair after washing it and applying mousse throughout every strand with my fingers. Then, flip your hair over and apply again from root to end. Keep applying mousse to hair and scrunch hair towards the root while still having hair flipped over. Spray entire hair with hairspray and scrunch again. Add hairspray one more time and section off hair into 2 pieces (top and back). Take hair clips and pull up hair in each section. Apply more hairspray and let air dry until you feel the mousse/hairspray stiffen up. Use a diffuser attachment (available at a beauty supply store) on your hair dryer to dry unclipped hair (hair should be flipped over). Use the same scrunching motion all over hair until it is completely dry and soft. If you're hair is still still feeling you have to continue diffusing it. Once done apply some more hairspray, flip back up, and VOILA!!

NOTE: The hair dryer diffuser helps create lots of volume without the feeling of dry crunchy curls. This technique is my own personal technique for styling my hair this way and may or may not work for everyone. Please let me know how it worked for you by commenting down below... Have a great week!
